So, I'm 30! I can't say that it feels differently than 29, except maybe now I can't be offended if the teenage bagger at Alberston's calls me "ma'am." I guess that comes with the new territory.
I have to say that Scott stole the show, however. He surprised me by getting a babysitter (even on family night -- how dare we?!?), taking me to a fancy restaurant, and having some of my friends there to greet us! Scott has never done anything this sneaky so I was pleasantly surprised by the festivities. Although a few couples couldn't make it, we had such a great time with Traci and Jaeson, and Rachael and Chad. Thank you for coming you guys and sacrificing your family night. I hope we didn't disrupt the harmony in your home!
Thank you Scotty for gently ushering me into my 30s with an appropriate amount of celebration -- not too much, but not too little (hello, I "immodestly heralded the arrival" of my own birthday, afterall; there must be SOME celebration!).
Fellow partying friends:
Traci and Jaeson
Rachael and Chad
Thanks again everybody!

My Big Day

You Say It's My Birthday!
Hey everybody! It's my birthday! I've left my 20s and entered the strange, wide world of my 30s. Woo hoo!
Now, I'm not one to beg but I'll do it anyway -- all I want for my big day is for everyone who reads this (all six of you) to leave a comment -- especially if you've never left one before. In return, I'll visit each of your blogs and leave a comment. If you'd really like to make my day, please include the link to a funny/favorite post from your blog.
(My husband thinks it's lame that I'm so immodestly heralding the arrival of my birthday and even worse, fishing for comments but seriously, I'm turning 30 and this is all I want? He should be thanking his lucky stars I'm not asking for a trip to Europe or something. Also, I have no shame. Truthfully, my blog counter seems to be off the chizz-ain these days so unless my mom is checking our blog 72 times a day, something tells me there are others out there who have yet to introduce themselves ... at least that's what I'm hoping. If not, thanks Mom for boosting my self esteem!)

My Little Goofball
Henry has really been on one lately. Every day I seem to laugh pretty hard at what he says. And maybe you just have to know him to find these things funny but here goes anyway:
The other day I left him and Ruby in the car while I ran up to the door of a girlfriend's house to drop something off. One minute later when I came back, Henry said, "Mama, don't leave us in the car because Rubying started frying so then I started frying." Frying, of course, is crying in Henry-ese.
Today he said something really funny and I said, "Henny, you are so cute." He looked at me, smiled demurely, shrugged his shoulders matter-of-factly, and said, "Yeah, I am cute ... cute like Ruby." Awww ... he melts my heart.
Yesterday morning I was working on the computer and he wanted to get on (his new addiction is the Teletubbies on pbskids.org). I said, "Hold on bud, you can get on in a minute after I'm done working." In the whiniest voice possible, he responded, "But ... but ... I have to work on the Teletubbies!"
And finally, today I had beads spread out all over my kitchen table (my friend, Traci, came over and taught me how to make bracelets and necklaces). After a few minutes of taking a break, Henry said, "Come on Mama, let's go tie some beads." So we sat down together and I was really struggling with getting my "floss" to stay knotted (Traci -- I know I'm craft impaired, but seriously!?! How hard is it to tie a knot?!) and I said, "Dang it! I just can't get this to work!" And without looking up from his bead work, he said, "Well ... I can't help you with that."
Seriously, some days Henry just makes my heart hurt -- I can't get enough of him. It's like I'm lonely for him even when he's sitting right next to me.

A Very Happy Un-Birthday To Me!
Today my cute friends came sneaking into my room at 7:15 a.m. and I awoke to the sounds of the clicks of their camera and giggles.
Apparently, they had decided today would be my un-birthday as I will be out of town for the actual day (which is March 3rd, just so you know and can be prepared. Ha!)
So they pulled me out of bed (they had given Scott the heads-up and he had slipped upstairs to sleep with Henry sometime during the night and of course I didn't notice because I'm not what you call a "light sleeper") and kidnapped me away to breakfast. They were, however, courteous enough to let me put on some clothes and mascara. My un-birthday also happened to be somewhat un-lucky for them because today was a hair washing day and they got to see the madness that is my hair on the morning of hair-washing day. Oh well. Sorry ladies!
You don't bring me flowers ... anymore ... (remember that song?) ... oh wait! My friends DO bring me flowers! Two dozen roses, to be exact. I love roses. They're one of my favorite flowers. Is it cliche to love roses? Well, then I'm cliche. I've always loved roses. And I heart my friends for bringing them to me.
Here we are at breakfast at a Bozeman breakfast hotspot, the Cat Eye Cafe: Traci, Ruth, Me, and Rachael (plus in-utero Ellis -- she was the only wee one allowed to come. We love wee ones. But not at 7:30 a.m. at the Cat Eye Cafe). We stuffed ourselves full of Banana Bread French Toast, Creamy Berry Croissant French Toast, and Eggs Benedict. Oh man, was it good.
And they presented me with a darling gift -- a beautiful handmade skirt from a swanky boutique on main street. I love swanky boutiques. Bozeman has a plethora of swanky boutiques. I love that my friends love swanky boutiques.
I don't think I've ever been surprised for my birthday ever -- obviously, these girls are masters of sneaking trickery. I'm thankful for such great friends I've been blessed with here in Bozeman.
I had so much fun so thanks again ladies!

Where Have I Been?
I've been here ...
... working my little fingers to the bone on this (freelance writing stuff -- don't look too closely though because it's what we, in the "biz", call "confidential") ...
... while snacking on this (breakfast of champions) ...
... so I'll be back ... someday ... soon ... with awesome posts ...
... there'll be one about my biggest pet peeve ... about myself ...
... hold your breath ... it might be worth reading ...
... or it might not ...
...
...
... so maybe you should stop holding your breath ...
... either way ...
... quit distracting me ...
... I have to get back to work ....
