Into the Great Wide Open

Anyone who knows my husband well knows that the boy can NOT sit still. I, on the other hand, feel perfectly fine sitting (or lying) still for hours at a time.

So these days, what with my "delicate"condition and all, Scott has taken to getting both kids (and dog) out of the house and into the great outdoors.

Of course one of the main activities is fishing.

Henry, reeling in a big one in Yellowstone Park.

Fishing and wading on another outing.
Even when I try and put the kibosh on his plans, Scott adapts. When I said they couldn't go camping a couple of weeks ago because it was too late and I didn't want them to go far away, he was not to be deterred. Here they are camping in our backyard:

(No, Ruby was not invited for the actual sleeping part of this camp out. Lucky her, she was completely unaware upstairs in her comfy crib of the 5 a.m. crawl into the house when Henry peed his pants and had to come in for dry clothes and a warm bed. Also, please note the mountain man beard Scott grew for Alaska, which has since been remedied. )

Hanging out at Ruby Reservoir.

Throwing rocks (who knew Hen had such a mean arm?).

What is with all these spam comments? Anyone else get those?

Put the word verification feature on and that should take care of it.

Delicate is right. When we're taking no AC and sharing sleep space with wiggly toddlers count me out. Maybe in 5 years I'll attempt.

I like the beard. I require Brent to grow a really big one every October. I think they're hot!

Okay, I am blaming it on being pregnant but for some reason these pictures made me tear up! Looking at little Hen, or not so little Hen, fishing with his dad just melts me. And Scotty passing on his love of all things nature to his kids...it's just one of those posts that makes me think "Who knew Scott had it in him?"

It makes me happy to see that you guys live in an area that can give Scott his "fix" anytime he needs it. Great post!

So that's why you live in Montana. It's beautiful. I love the backyard campout. There's nothing like washing pee out of a sleeping bag (been there and done that too...for my kids of course). Hope you are feeling better. At least you are staying on top of the blog thing. Thanks for the birfday text. Love you guys.
