... Gone Tomorrow.
Okay, not really, but after just getting back from a week long trip, we'll be gone again the next two weekends. I think we travel too much.
Here's where we were...
Okay, not really Paris, but at the Paris hotel in the fabulous, sinful city of Las Vegas! Scott was presenting at a conference for the American Planning Association so we decided to tag along. My brother, Spencer, and his family live there so while Scott did his work thing (and climbed with some friends who were in town), we hung out with Heather and Ava.
Although she's a year younger than Henry, Ava is one of Henry's favorite cousins. Those two are the craziest peas in a pod you'll ever see. They never fought and kept each other amused for three days -- it was glorious. Here they are bonding at the park.
Seriously, these two were inseparable. It was so cute!
All they did was run around screaming after each other. I'm sure the other pool guests loved our being there. We're such respectful pool mates.
Here they are swimming under the Eiffel Tower ... how romantic ... even for cousins.
Looks like fun, right? I should clarify that fun was definitely NOT had by all on this trip. Here's what Ruby was doing during Henry and Ava's shenanigans ... Sick as a dog. Of course.
The weather was so great while we were there. It felt so strange to wear t-shirts and flippies and STILL feel warm.
You know you're from Montana when visiting a warm climate (i.e. Las Vegas) and you say to your 3 1/2 year old, "It's hot out here. We need to get you into some shorts." Without missing a beat, he replies, "What are shorts?!?"
Can you tell which kid in the next picture doesn't get out in the sun much? Hmmm ... that's a tough one ....
Ruby felt well enough to be involved in this one classic cousin bonding activity, although it didn't last long -- she screamed to get out after less than five minutes and immediately fell asleep.
Every night I planned to go out and get pictures of the kids on the strip, especially in front of the Bellagio water show. As sick kids and long days predict, we were absolutely exhausted every night. Good thing we had a view of the Bellagio from our hotel room because this is as close as we were gonna get. Henry didn't care. He stood at the window transfixed just barely hearing the music but enjoying it all the same.
Here's Spencer trying to tame Ava's 'do. That girl seriously has the craziest hairdo known to toddler-dom.
Here's Henry checking out the outcome. I wonder if that's what Spencer was going for.
Thanks for letting us come stay at your house Ava! We already miss you AND your crazy hairdo!

Cousins are seriously the best. I am glad you had a good time, but also glad you are back. You know you are missed. I am glad my tennis partner is back also, class just isn't the same without you.
Yours truely,
Junior ;)
hey...there's nothing wrong with a little cousin-to-cousin romance. I had a crush on one of my cousins until I was old enough to know better ...16 or 17.
Just wanted to say Happy Mother's Day to one of the coolest mom's I know. Hope Scott spoils you today. (No cooking and maybe a nap.) What more do we really want/need? Love ya!
I'm glad you are blogging again. It was fun to see the kiddies. I enjoyed seeing Spencer's daughter and knowing what he's up to. I'm sorry for Ruby (and you).
Celia-
Any time that I am at the computer I have to show Ava the pictures of her and Henry. You will have to send me some of the best pics so that I can get them developed. It was good to see you in sunny LV. Don't worry it was 105 today and I thought that I was going to melt.
nothing like some las vegas fun! hope you enjoyed our fair city. love your blog. i found it by clicking the "next blog" button on the top of my blog.
